Vincent, a regular on TV's As the World Turns , convinced stars of stage, screen, concert hall and circus to contribute favorite recipes to an overwhelmingly ordinary cookbook. Sylvia Miles presents her hamburger curry; Jeremy Irons cooks up a somnolent mash of potatoes, milk, onions and butter; Maureen McGovern surrenders a signature peanut butter sandwich; Phyllis Diller firmly outlaws pepper from potato salad. Perhaps the most savvy celeb in this fat-yet-slim anthology is Carol Burnett, who simply directs the hungry, whether famous or not, to Wolf's Sixth Avenue Delicatessen in New York City, where presumably no one need dig into "holiday jello mold" (choreographer Lynne Taylor-Corbett), "spinach tofu lasagne" (acrobat Robert Hoshour), "leg of lamb almost as good-lookin' as mine" (actress Alyson Reed) or other morsels offered in the collection. Also included are short biographies of contributors. Illustrations not seen by PW. Copyright 1989 Reed Business Information, Inc.
