In addition to its famous bowls and serving platters, Nambé makes bakeware out of its gleaming, hand-polished metal alloy. Introduced in 1982 and a favorite with chefs, this round, deep three-quart casserole dish is one of the few pieces of Nambé cookware with a lid. Amazingly durable, both the casserole and the lid (which can be used by itself as a shallow baking or serving dish) are safe for use in the oven, under the broiler, on a stovetop burner, and in the freezer, so that a casserole or dessert can be made ahead of time, frozen, reheated, and served directly at the table. The thick metal retains heat (or cold) exceptionally well, and will not crack, chip, or tarnish. Like all Nambé metalware, the casserole is not safe for microwave or dishwasher-use. Square and rectangular casseroles are also available. Nambé was founded in 1951 in a village of the same name in scenic northern New Mexico. From the beginning, the company focused on hand-producing high-quality, functional items such as metal bowls and trays with great attention to timeless, modern design.
