This shaker/container makes an electric blender unnecessary when the urge for a smoothie, milkshake, or instant pudding arises, a salad needs dressing, or eggs need scrambling. Just pour ingredients into the container, insert the blending wheel with its star-shaped center, snap on the domed seal, grip, and shake. Because the seal is virtually leak-proof, no mess results. The Tupperware seal is also virtually airtight, so you can store leftovers in the refrigerator and they'll remain fresh. Made of rugged plastic, the container holds 16 ounces and is calibrated in both ounces/cups and milliliters on clear strips, which run down the container's sides so you can monitor blending progress. Otherwise, the container comes in Tupperware's classic Sheer Ice color. The seal is dark blue and contains a pouring spout. The container stands 8 inches high and is tapered to fit the hand snugly. As a veteran of dietary supplement powders (multivitamins, fiber, and mysterious green powders), this is the best shaker I've used to date! The tight-fitting lid stays firmly in place, even after months of use, unlike the cheap dribble shaker that came with the vitamin powder, and the domed top allows plenty of air space for optimal blending. My supplements dissolve faster and without the clumping I sometimes experienced with my old flat-topped 16 ounce shaker. I like the fact the container's see-thru and calibrated: ounces, cups, and ml. The plastic is lightly textured on the outside for a non-slip grip, and very smooth on the inside for optimal shaking and easy cleaning. The plastic is stable, so lacks that yucky plastic smell. In addition to supplement powders, this shaker, complete with pour top (make sure it's locked in place before shaking) would be great for smaller portions of salad dressings, where you don't want to drag out the blender. In addition to a shaker, this container doubles as a covered drink container for the car, since the lid stays on tight, and the bottom is narrow enough to fit in all but the flimsiest cup holders. A friend takes his Tupperware shaker to the juicebar for carryout juices! The pour-top doubles as an opening for a straw, for kids or people who need to drink from a straw (like when I had a neck injury). A calibrated drink container can also be helpful for people trying to make sure they drink 8 glasses of water a day. While the listed price seems like a lot to pay for a shaker, if it's like my other Tupperware containers, it'll be around for decades!
